读经 : 以西結書 Ezekiel 18 : 20 - 32
18:20 惟有犯罪的，他必死亡。兒子必不擔當父親的罪孽，父親也不擔當兒子的罪孽。義人的善果必歸自己，惡人的惡報也必歸自己。

舊約聖經以西結書描述主如何審判悖逆的子民。主稱他們為「悖逆的國民」（2章3節）和「面無羞恥，心裡剛硬」的人（4節）。
以西結書 Ezekiel 2 : 3 - 4
2:3 他對我說：「人子啊，我差你往悖逆的國民以色列人那裡去。他們是悖逆我的，他們和他們的列祖違背我，直到今日。
And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day. nation: Heb. nations

在這卷書中描述了以色列民的罪 行和將臨到的嚴厲處罰，其畫面令人觸目驚心！在這黑暗的時刻，滿有憐憫的上帝為這些被擄到巴比倫的子民感到痛心。祂的大愛閃爍在祂的呼喚聲中，祂呼召祂的
子民重回正道。
「『你們要把你們所犯的一切罪過棄掉，為自己造一個新的心和新的靈。以色列家啊，你們為甚麼要滅亡呢？我不喜悅任何人滅亡，所以你們要回轉，得以存活。』這是主耶和華的宣告。」（以西結書18章31-32節，新譯本）
雖然，我們對自己的失敗和不能順服祂的命令感到失望，但上帝並不要我們為此更加感到沮喪。相反的，祂正邀請我們接受一個新的力量和動力的泉源：「一個新心」和「新靈」（以西結書36章26-27節）。
